The Secret Waterfall, Glamis (The Hidden Valley Walk)

Who would have guessed that this picture was taken in Glamis, Scotland. This was not the easiest place to find as there was no guidance on the precise location of the waterfall. We live super close so after watching a few videos we were able to pin point where to start.

This place is beautiful so just a reminder if you do visit "take only memories and leave only footprints"- Chief Seattle.

Starting location:

If you're looking for the starting point you need to take the A928 road to Dundee from Glamis and you park in the first parking bay that you come to. From there the entrance is just behind where you park

The Walk

This is definitely a welly boot walk so don't forget to bring them with you...

Short Version

This is probably the safest way to see the waterfall. We found that the longer walk was a bit more dangerous to get down to the falls.

After leaving the car and heading down the path behind the car turn left and follow the path along.

You will come to a burn with a gap of around 1 meter you can either go through the burn, step along the branch over the gap or go as Storm did and jump over with ease putting me to shame who went through the burn.

Once you tackle that obstacle you should hear the running of the waterfall. It's a steep hill down to the falls and was quite muddy to get across to the falls itself.

Long Version

After leaving the car and heading down the path behind the car turn right and follow the path along until you see a path leading you down the hill. Now you may wish to keep your dog on a lead for the first bit of the walk going along the hill as it is a steep drop into the valley.

Walk along the path until you see the path split in 2 one going up hill and the other down, this will lead you towards a bridge you can either go across the one you see or walk through the valley itself and go back towards a second bridge. We opted to head back and walk through the valley.

It was a beautiful walk, we seen a few birds soaring high and enjoyed the sounds of the river as we walked through...

Once over the bridge we headed up the hill and followed the path until it splits, one path going straight on and one that takes you down the hill.

Follow the downward path you will see the fisheries to get to the waterfall you will have to climb over a fence. I recommend putting your dog on a lead in this area. Once you climb over the fence, there is a small path you can see that others have taken, just follow this and it will lead you to where others have climbed down to the waterfall. Please be very careful of your footing and watch whilst climbing over trees etc to get down to the waterfall.

From here you can either go back the way you came, or you can cross the river and go up to the top of the hill and its just a short walk back towards the car but you then have to cross the gap we talked about above.
